How to apply for a motor driving instructor's license





1. Literacy test

On the day of the test:
go to the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, Ground Floor Security Desk, 77 Grenfell Street, Adelaide
you will need to take your current South Australian driver's license.
You will receive the result by post.
When you have successfully passed the literacy test, an application form and guidelines will be sent to you. You can apply for a motor driving instructor's license.

2. Lodge application

Complete the motor driving instructor's license application and lodge it at a Service SA customer service center.
You will be sent a letter advising whether your application has been successful.

3. Accredited training course

Contact a registered training organization to enroll in the Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics, Road Transport – Driving Instruction course.
You will need to provide the training organization with a copy of your literacy test result and successful application.

4. License issued

Take a copy of your accredited training course qualification to a Service SA customer service center.
You will be issued with a Motor Driving Instructor's License (provided you have not accumulated any convictions and still hold an unconditional driver's license).
